Bamboo chimes are used in feng shui too. You probably already know that feng shui is about the art and science of arranging your external surroundings so that they enhance the quality of your life and your fortune, health and happiness.
Bamboo wind chimes are designed to slow down fast flowing energy, and stimulate stagnant energy – so a harmonizing effect, which is beneficial to the flow of energy.

Sound oasis is a company that specializes in sound relaxation programs.
Now there’s a device for travelers that not just helps to wake them up at the right time (with the alarm clock) but also go to sleep more easily.
The Travel Sound Therapy System has 17 inbuilt sounds – one of them being the sound of bamboo wind chimes. Other sounds it can play is the sound of running water, bonfire, wind, rainforrest, ocean waves.
It also has a voice-memo feature, so if some idea pops up in your mind you can record it easily right away.
It can be used both with headphones or via the inbuilt speakers. And you can program it to slowly “fade out” over a 90 minute period if you so wish.
I listened to their bamboo wind chime sound and did not find it to be very relaxing – there are much nicer bamboo wind chime sounds, a lot calmer and more quiet. But you can listen in for yourself:

Okay, this is a little bit off topic: it’s not really about bamboo chimes. Forgive me
But to be honest, as much as I love bamboo chimes, my fascination is not limited to chimes made out of bamboo only: it’s bamboo and it’s many uses.
Bamboo bags are another very eco-friendly product that can be made from bamboo.
Why bags made out of bamboo? Well, it’s fibers are naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial and thus are also excellent to store foods. Plus, they can absorb water very well.
If you just look in nature you will find that bamboo doesn’t need pesticides and is rarely attacked by pests. That’s because of “bamboo Kun”. Bamboo Kun might sound like a comic book character, but it’s a bio-agent, and even after being washed 50 times bamboo fiber can still retain it’s natural, antibacterial properties.

A book on making bamboo windchimes?
There’s a guy called Bart Hopkin. He’s making instruments and he is very deep into his passion. He’s the Director of an organization that is devoted to unusual musical instruments and innovative instrument making. It’s called Experimental Music Instruments.
He has written a whole book on making windchimes titled “windchimes — design and construction”.
I haven’t had a chance yet to read the book, but from what I’ve seen so far it seems to be a good read and I believe that it has all the information you need to start making none will windchimes.
However if you want to be 100% certain that this is the right book make sure to just subscribe by putting your e-mail address in here and you will get notified as soon as there is a review of this book.
I’d love to get to know you better, because a community of people who are as deep into bumble windchimes as we are really isn’t that big. So it’s good if we had a way off connecting to each other.
However, if you want to give the book a try right away, be free to do so. Just click on the image of the book and you can order it right away from Amazon. Once you’ve read it I’d love to hear your opinion about it, and maybe you can even write the review about it and I’ll publish it here in your name.
This would be a great way to get into contact with other people, and exchange ideas and techniques on making bamboo windchimes.
Or just leave a comment if you are short on time.

Here you can see a video of a outdoor bamboo wind chime. Looks like it’s in a tropical area (watch for the sufer dude in the background). This is a pretty nice, advanced bamboo wind chime.

Bamboo chimes really can be a great part in creating a relaxed atmosphere where people can feel comfortable. Some people might find my bamboo wind chime obsession a little funny, but hey, some people memorize every detail of every submarine that has been built in the last 50 years and have their basements stacked with submarine models, and I’m the bamboo wind chime dude. So let the wind chime be bambooOOO!
Oh yes, if my bamboo wind chime obsession hasn’t scared you away yet, why not check out some of the bamboo wind chimes that you can buy on ebay? I think it’s one of the best places to shop for bamboo wind chimes because they just have such a wide selection.

Here you can see how a simple, easy-to-make self-made bamboo-wind-chime construction is making a pretty nice sound when it gets moved. The materials that have been used to construct this bamboo wind chime are pretty cheap and easy to find and overall there was no brain-surgery involved in creating this bamboo chime – but listen how pretty it sounds!

Bamboo wind chimes make a beautiful, relaxing sound, almost like the sound of distant drums.
They can be hung both indoor and outdoor and are now common in places all over the world, not just Asia. But in Asia they are still more common in some areas, as they originally served a protecting purpose. Many Asian cultures believe in spirits and ghosts, and bamboo wind chimes were originally used to protect a house from evil spirits and also make friends with good spirits.
