Bamboo chimes are used in feng shui too. You probably already know that feng shui is about the art and science of arranging your external surroundings so that they enhance the quality of your life and your fortune, health and happiness.

A book on making bamboo windchimes?
There’s a guy called Bart Hopkin. He’s making instruments and he is very deep into his passion. He’s the Director of an organization that is devoted to unusual musical instruments and innovative instrument making. It’s called Experimental Music Instruments.
He has written a whole book on making windchimes titled “windchimes — design and construction”.
I haven’t had a chance yet to read the book, but from what I’ve seen so far it seems to be a good read and I believe that it has all the information you need to start making none will windchimes.
