Artificial Bamboo Wind Chimes Help You Sleep Better

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Sound oasis is a company that specializes in sound relaxation programs.

Now there’s a device for travelers that not just helps to wake them up at the right time (with the alarm clock) but also go to sleep more easily.

The Travel Sound Therapy System has 17 inbuilt sounds – one of them being the sound of bamboo wind chimes. Other sounds it can play is the sound of running water, bonfire, wind, rainforrest, ocean waves.

It also has a voice-memo feature, so if some idea pops up in your mind you can record it easily right away.

It can be used both with headphones or via the inbuilt speakers. And you can program it to slowly “fade out” over a 90 minute period if you so wish.

I listened to their bamboo wind chime sound and did not find it to be very relaxing – there are much nicer bamboo wind chime sounds, a lot calmer and more quiet. But you can listen in for yourself:

Bamboo Bags

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Okay, this is a little bit off topic: it’s not really about bamboo chimes. Forgive me :-)

But to be honest, as much as I love bamboo chimes, my fascination is not limited to chimes made out of bamboo only: it’s bamboo and it’s many uses.

Bamboo bags are another very eco-friendly product that can be made from bamboo.

Why bags made out of bamboo? Well, it’s fibers are naturally antibacterial and antimicrobial and thus are also excellent to store foods. Plus, they can absorb water very well.

If you just look in nature you will find that bamboo doesn’t need pesticides and is rarely attacked by pests. That’s because of “bamboo Kun”. Bamboo Kun might sound like a comic book character, but it’s a bio-agent, and even after being washed 50 times bamboo fiber can still retain it’s natural, antibacterial properties.
